Close to 100 residents of Region Three received support to construct their homes through the Steel and Cement Housing Subsidy Programme today.
The Ministry of Housing & Water – Central Housing & Planning Authority hosted a simple ceremony at the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) compound at Vreed-en-Hoop, to distribute vouchers to these individuals, who would have satisfied the programme criteria.
Addressing beneficiaries at the event were Minister of Housing and Water, Collin D Croal; Permanent Secretary, Andre Ally and Chief Executive Officer of CHPA, Sherwyn Greaves.
Regional Chairman, Ishan Ayube and Vice-Chairman, Omesh Satyanand also attended the activity.
Some 143 residents from the region have been approved to benefit from the vouchers so far. Beneficiaries of the programme will be able to select from a list of suppliers in their area. All suppliers are mandated to provide the construction materials at the same price.
