Police have are arrested a Food Court proprietor from Albion Berbice on Saturday night at 21:35hrs. According to the police, after being highlighted to the commander during an outreach on Wednesday last as a prime spot for robberies, ranks on patrol observed a large number of vehicles parked on both sides of the Albion Public Road as well as a large crowd within and around the “Food Court” Restaurant and Bar at Albion Front Public Road Corentyne, Berbice.
The police said that ranks immediately went to the proprietor of the business and ordered him to close off and disperse the crowd.
He was arrested and escorted to the Albion Police Station and placed into custody for breaching the Emergency Guidelines by hosting a social activity beyond the stipulated 21:30h as well as other breaches. He was later released on bail and is scheduled for court on September 21, 2021.
The night shift sugar workers were identified as the main victims being robbed whenever they were passing to head to or from the estate.
