A pesticides salesman was arrested on Tuesday at about 12:00h after he was found with a quantity of marijuana.
HGP Nightly News understands that ranks were on mobile patrol in the vicinity of Charity Back Street, Market Area, Essequibo Coast when they observed 52-year-old Shawn English pushing a trolley nervously.
The salesman, who hails from Stewartville, West Coast Demerara (WCD), was questioned by ranks about what was in the trolley, and he reportedly replied that he was “selling.”
The ranks conducted a search on his person, where a bulky transparent plastic bag was found in his left-side pocket with a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
A further search was then carried out on a bag that was on the trolley, and a bulky transparent plastic bag with a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis was found.
English was arrested and escorted to the Charity Police Station, where both parcels of suspected cannabis were weight in the presence, totalling 80.36 grams.
