Security Guard shoots man with suspected counterfeit $5000 notes at Diamond

Police have reported an incident in the Diamond area on the East Bank Demerara. According to reports about 20:00hrs on Monday night, three men entered the HUA Chinese Supermarket and made several purchases with two $5000 notes and collected their change from the Chinese cashier.
As the men were leaving the supermarket, the cashier checked the two notes suspecting it was counterfeit currency.

Police said at this stage the armed private security guard on duty at the supermarket responded and opened fire on the men, hitting one of them in his back as he was about to enter the vehicle. The injured man fell on the roadway, while the other men escaped in the motor vehicle.
The injured man has been identified as Shaquille Dalrymple, 26 years, of C’Ville Housing Scheme, Georgetown. He has been admitted a patient under guard at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
