The top brass of the Guyana Fire Service convened on Thursday for the official opening of the Senior Fire Officers’ Conference, a critical gathering to strengthen internal systems, enhance accountability, and improve emergency response mechanisms across the country.
The conference, held under the theme of professionalism, preparedness, and public trust, brought together regional commanders, station officers, and senior leadership to review operational challenges and chart how to modernize the service.
“This is not just about training—it’s about transforming how we serve and protect the public,” a senior official noted during the opening session.
The conference will discuss improving fire prevention strategies, addressing resource and manpower constraints, and exploring technological solutions to enhance incident response times.
The initiative also forms part of a broader mandate to restore public confidence in the fire service following recent scrutiny of fire investigations and response delays.
