‘SHARKY’ NABBED BY THE POLICE

The dragnet of the police has railed in ‘SHARKY’. Police say he ’s a notorious criminal wanted for murder.

The long arm of the law has caught up 25-year-old Wayne Chester Called ‘SHARKY’. Police at the weekend nabbed ‘ SHARKY’ who was one of two men who robbed a wash bay operator of his jewelry and a sum of cash at gunpoint at Conciliation Drive, Georgetown.

Police say ‘SHARKY’ in his bid to escape discharged several rounds at the victim’s motorcar, which struck the windshield after he pursued them. This unlicensed pistol with a spent shell was also allegedly found in ‘SHARKY’S possession.

A division commander, Assistant police commissioner Marlon Chapman confirmed to Nightly News Monday that ‘SHARKY’ is also wanted for murder. Police say that ‘SHARKY’ had been the triggerman behind the gunning down of 42-year-old Purcell Junior Moore on December 20, 2017.

Moore was gunned down at Old Road, Craig, East Bank Demerara after being cornered by a group of men. Moore, who lived in Cayenne, French Guiana with his wife and two children, had come to Guyana for the birth of his son when he was slain a short distance from where he was staying with the mother of his child.

Investigators believe that Moore was returning home from a shop when ‘SHARKY’ and others, armed with handguns, confronted him. An argument reportedly erupted between Moore and the suspects. This escalated into a scuffle, during which ‘SHARKY’ reportedly discharged several rounds at Moore, hitting him in the right side of the chest before fleeing. Moore was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
