Currently, Ms Pretty Debedin is the only medical staff attached to the Fort Island Health Center located in the Essequibo River. Ms Debedin is reportedly expected to cater to the needs of her community and neighbouring ones as well. In response to her repeated cries for help, Health Authorities claim that an assessment needs to be done to determine whether additional support is required.
