Detectives from the Guyana Police Force’s Major Crimes Unit today found some bones suspected to be that of Quincy Lewis, a Police Constable who went missing since June 19, 2020.
The remains were located at the Madewini Sandpit area on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
Two suspects were contacted, and having been shown the evidence, they decided to cooperate with the investigators.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum said investigators were gathering evidence over the past several months.
“I wish to take this opportunity to commend the ranks of the Major Crime Investigation Unit who worked tirelessly along with the newly appointed head of the Cold Case Unit to achieve this breakthrough and offer closure to the family of the deceased.”
The Police Force will seek to send samples of the human skeletal remains unearthed today with the assistance of the suspect, who remains in custody, for DNA testing.
“The Guyana Police Force will also use all legal avenues available to ensure that the other two suspects are extradited to Guyana to answer to the allegations in relation to the death of the deceased. “
