A man who is yet to be identified lost his life on Sunday at Clarke’s Turn, Wales, West Bank Demerara in an accident.
According to Police Headquarters, the motorcycle CL 5663 involved in the fatal accident allegedly driven by a male of African descent (name, age and address unknown). There was also a 45-year-old pillion rider Adrian Nelson of lot 18 Pouderoyen, WBD at the time of the accident.
Enquiries disclosed that the pillion rider claimed that he knows the deceased from Crane WBD and they were at a dance in Wales, West Bank Demerara and he asked the now dead man for a drop home. He told police that about about 02:20hrs on Sunday as they were proceeding along the western side of the road in the vicinity of Clarke’s Turn Wales West Bank Demerara, the driver lost control and ended up going straight into the trench. Police noted the the man was riding at a fast rate of speed and added that the corner has a “steep turn”.
The pillion rider said he jumper off the motorcycle as it was heading into the trench.
Both persons were picked up in a conscious state by police and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where the driver was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty while the pillion rider was seen and examined and admitted at the said institution after suffering from a fractured leg in a stable condition.
The body of the deceased man is presently lying at the West Demerara Regional Hospital’s mortuary waiting to be identified.
