Speaking at the People’s Progressive Party Rally on Sunday at Stewartville, Presidential Candidate Mr. Irfaan Ali highlighted some development plans for Region 3 if he wins elections on March 2, 2020.
Among his promises was a construction of a super highway. “To get to work to Georgetown, we cannot use five hours per day. If 5 persons travelling in a car that is twenty hours of productive hour we lose everyday of productive time,” Mr. Ali said. In this light, to resolve this issue he promised to build a super highway that will be connected to a high rise bridge across the Demerara River.
With regard to health care, Mr. Ali said that the party upon winning, “will invest in a state-of-the-art Regional Hospital … and reinvest in the Diagnostic Centre and the health centres across the region.”
Mr. Ali also promised affordable housing, investment in export oriented facilities, better drainage and irrigation, a waterfront development for the Demerara River on the West side and opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
