The Department of Citizenship has identified a Migrant Support Centre to be established in Region 2.
Acting Civil Defense Commission Director General Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig mentioned about 4000 plus Venezuelan Migrants have been documented in Guyana. He says that the migrants are granted
Approximately $25 million has been allocated to aid the migrants.
The acting director General says Venezuelans do not need to fear deportation. He assured the migrants that there is no need to hide.
The Venezuelans have settled mainly in the North West district where they have scattered throughout Khan’s Hill and Mabaruma. They have sought settlement in Guyana, due to the economic and social difficulties in their country.
