Suspect who robbed Moruca businessman caught, stolen items recovered by Police

The perpetrator who robbed the business place of Douglas Robeiro, a 49 year-old businessman of Kumaka Water Front in Moruca, North West District was caught.

The robbery occurred on 7th April, 2022.

The perpetrator was nabbed by the Police and confessed to the robbery. He had carted off one (1) HP laptop value $89,000 GYD, four (4) carton cigarettes value $40,000 and 18 tins of sausages value $5,400, a total value of $134,400 GYD.

nquiries disclosed that the victim is the owner of a shop located The one-flat wooden building measuring about 18 x 12 feet in length and width respectively. The building is situated in a fenced yard. It consists of one wooden door facing in a western direction, and same is secured by ‘hasp and staple’ and padlock externally.

According to a police report, on thr 7th April, 2022 at about 00:10 hours, the businessman secured the shop by the above mentioned means and went to bed. Around 09:00 hours the victim checked his shop and discovered that the hasp and staple and padlock on his door was broken off. He made checks inside his shop and discovered the above mentioned items were missing.

Following a report to the Acquero Police Station, the suspect was later seen walking along the Moruca access road with a black haversack on his back. He was reportedly acting in a suspicious manner and was immediately confronted by an investigating rank. A search was conducted on his person and the stolen computer was observed in the haversack.

He then admitted to committing the offence and provided police with additional information fear led to the recovery of the other items that were stolen.

The suspect in presently in custody. Investigations are ongoing.
