A woman was found dead hanging from a mango tree in her yard at her Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway home after a night of imbibing.
Police are now investigating the suspected murder of 48-year-old Edith Reuben, a housewife who investigators suspect was murdered sometime between 00:30 and 06:00 hours on Tuesday.
Reuben, her reputed husband, and several neighbors were consuming high wine on Tuesday, and all except one male left for their respective residences. It is reported that she was last seen on the veranda alive at 12:30 am on Monday consuming alcohol when her reputed husband and the other male decided to retire to bed. At 04:00 hours the male guest woke her reputed husband to indicate he was departing and after acknowledging, the husband went back to sleep.
Two hours after, the reputed claimed that he awoke and made the gruesome discovery of his reputed wife’s motionless body hanging from a mango tree in the yard.
The body was uplifted and escorted to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where it was formally pronounced dead by a medical doctor and is now at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting post mortem.
Police so far will only say that the positioning of the deceased’s body suggests she was murdered and her body placed at the scene. The male guest who overnighted has not been found for questioning as yet. Investigations continue.
