A 29-year-old taxi driver is now dead after he was reportedly shot to the head at North East La Penitence, Georgetown, on Tuesday night.
Dead is Osafo Pollard of West La Penitence, Georgetown.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the alleged murder took place around 22:30h on the day in question.
“A loud explosion similar to gun shot was first heard followed by persons screaming and running away after which Osafo Pollard was seen lying with a wound to his head. He was subsequently picked up and taken to Georgetown Public Hospital where he died about 00:20hrs on February 3, 2021 while receiving treatment. A wound was seen to his head.”
His body is presently at the said hospital’s mortuary where it awaits a Post Mortem Examination (PME).
Investigations are ongoing.
