Taxi driver robbed of vehicle, cellphone and cash by “passenger”, gun-toting accomplice

A 36-year-old security personnel who used his personal vehicle to operate as a part-time taxi driver, was robbed of his Silver Grey 2012 Premio car (# PWW 1790), a cellular phone and cash, by a “passenger” and his accomplice on Tuesday (yesterday).

The taxi driver, identified as Royston Green, of Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was robbed at gunpoint around 20:00h at Latchman Sand Road, Soesdyke, EBD.

Reports are that he was plying his trade as a taxi driver when a male approached him to be transported to Soesdyke, EBD, to “pick up someone.”

Green reportedly agreed and upon arrival at the Latchman Sand Road, Soesdyke, another male approached with a handgun and pointed it in Green’s direction.

The male along with the “passenger” then “forcibly” robbed the 36-year-old of his belongings and then made good their escape in a Northern direction.

Investigations continue.
