Taxi Driver Slapped with Arm Robbery Charge, Remanded to Prison

On Wednesday, armed robbery accused Tarique Manawar-Khan, was remanded to prison when he made a court appearance today at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court.

The 22-year-old taxi driver of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown is accused of robbing a Crane businessman, Ren Persaud of 12 gold chains valued at $1.5 million.

The armed robbery accused appeared before Principal Magistrate Ms. Faith McGusty at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read and he was not required to plead. He was remanded to prison.

The matter was postponed to May 23rd, 2022 for report.

The incident took place at the Riddim Flow Chill Spot at Crane Housing Scheme, WCD, by three identifiable males, two of whom were armed with small handguns.
