-accused of stealing articles
Azad Potter, a gold miner of Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara, succumbed after reportedly receiving a thrashing from a group of men. The 17 year old was reportedly accused of stealing a number of articles. The articles were allegedly stolen from the mining camp where the men work at Konawaruk Backdam.
Police have so far arrested four men in connection to the man’s beating and they are said to be assisting with the investigations. Vigilante styled justice has been an emergent force in the interior location due to reported police absence. This is not the first such reported case.
