THREE DEAD IN TWO SEPARATE ACCIDENTS AT THE WEEKEND

The death toll on the country’s roadways has climbed to 107. Three East Coast youths were killed in two separate accidents at the weekend. Left behind are tears and unanswered questions. Here are the details from Javone Vickorie

20-year-old Jason Harris of lot 7 Section B Cummings Lodge and his neighbour, 18 year-old Rameshwar Singh were killed after the motorcycle seen here collided with this vehicle at Ogle, East Coast Demerara on Saturday night. Police say that Harris and Singh were thrown several feet away from the point of impact. The authorities say that both men were picked in an unconscious state and taken to Georgetown public hospital. Harris was pronounced dead on arrival while Singh succumbed Sunday afternoon. The driver involved in the accident still remains in police custody. Police say that the resident of Campbellville was tested and found to be below the legal limit of alcohol consumption. The mother of Singh, Shirley Gilkes, explained that her son and Harris were heading to the gas station at the time of the accident. But after not returning for some amount of hours, her worst fears were confirmed.

Meanwhile 15 year-old Karchand Khemraj lot 44 Annandale, East Coast Demerara succumbed to his injuries following an accident on the Annandale Public Road. The police are looking for the minibus driver who reportedly caused his death.
