Three young men are in trouble with the law after they were busted on Thursday with a quantity of cannabis seeds and live ammunition rounds in Moraballi Creek, Essequibo River, the Guyana Police Force said in a news release on Friday.
The suspects, two 23-year-old males and one 25-year-old male, were arrested after 1309 grams of cannabis seeds sativa and six live 12-gauge cartridges, police said.
According to the facts of the case, as outlined in the release, police were on a patrol around 12:45 hours on Thursday, July 15, along the Moraballi Creek, Essequibo River, when they encountered the three suspects and conducted a search on their persons and personal belongings — but nothing illegal was found.
“The trio were questioned and escorted to their camp where a search was conducted in their presence and one yellow bucket containing a quantity of cannabis seeds and a transparent plastic bottle with six live 12-gauge cartridges were found in their presence.
“They were told of the offence, arrested and later escorted to Bartica Police Station where the suspected cannabis seeds were weighed and amount to 1309 grams,” the release further stated.
The suspects are in custody while investigations continue.
