On Thursday, CANU officers conducted an operation at a residence in Middle Street, South Vryheid’s Lust, where they intercepted a motor vehicle with four (4) occupants. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of four (4) parcels of suspected cannabis and the arrest of the occupants.

Erwin Chappelle; 24 yrs, Doodnauth Bhagwandin; 35 yrs, Kevin Ramgoolam; 27 yrs and Mark Barton; 29 yrs were escorted along with the narcotics to CANU headquarters where it tested positive for cannabis and had a total weight of 1.750 kg, having a street value of approximately GUY $2.8 M (approximately $13,500 USD).

This type of cannabis is known as ‘’Kush’’ which is suspected to have been imported into Guyana from North America.
