Stephen Pollard, a 26-year-old businessman, was murdered last night in Port of Spain. He was the owner of Pollard’s Clothing Company on Broadway. According to a police, Pollard was standing in front of his store when a lone gunman approached him. The suspect was reportedly armed with a machine gun and opened fire on Pollard and made good his escape. Pollard, of Beetham Estate, was hit in the upper region of his body. Pollard died while undergoing surgery at the Port of Spain General Hospital. Police are continuing their investigations into the matter.
Meanwhile in another incident, Dion Sampson, 27, of Phase Five, Beetham Estate, was walking north along a lane in Beetham Gardens when he heard several loud explosions. Moments later he felt a burning sensation and realized he was shot in his right leg and was transported to the Port of Spain General Hospital. His condition is said to be stable. And in yet another shooting, Kendall Scott, 47, of Lot 64 Pump Trace, Laventille, was standing on the corner of Africa and Picton Roads, Laventille, when a white car pulled up alongside him and fired several shots. He was hit about his upper body. The man was taken to the hospital where he too is said to be in stable condition.
