Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, His Excellency Cui Jianchun, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Dr. Karen Cummings on Thursday to discuss enhancement of bilateral cooperation and the current outbreak of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
Ambassador Jianchum informed Min. Cummings that two Guyanese students in Wuhan are receiving assistance from the Government of China.
The Foreign Minister lauded the Government of China for the work being done to contain the further spread of the coronavirus. Guyana hoped to implement a similar model, she noted.
Whilst at the Diamond Hospital last evening, a student returning from China through Suriname was taken to receive medical attention. According to reports the woman showed no signs of the virus.
