In a significant move aimed at tackling environmental and developmental challenges, the University of Guyana, in collaboration with Catalyste+ and the Canadian High Commission, officially launched the Climate, Land, Energy, and Water (CLEW) Systems initiative.
The new partnership, unveiled at a special event, seeks to provide practical and tailored solutions specifically addressing Guyana’s unique environmental landscape. It aims to enhance Guyana’s capacity to manage natural resources sustainably, promote clean energy solutions, mitigate climate impacts, and strengthen water resource management.
Speaking at the launch, representatives from the Canadian High Commission emphasized the importance of this initiative in supporting Guyana’s sustainable development goals. They noted Canada’s commitment to sharing expertise and technology to help Guyana address environmental concerns and adapt to climate change.
Officials from the University of Guyana highlighted that the CLEW Systems initiative would enable students, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders to engage collaboratively in creating innovative solutions to critical challenges in land use, renewable energy deployment, climate resilience, and water management.
The initiative is expected to deliver meaningful outcomes, including policy recommendations, scientific research, community-level projects, and technical training programs tailored specifically to Guyana’s needs.
