Vendor assaulted, robbed of cash and cellular phone at stall

A 45-year-old vendor at Bourda market was robbed of his cellular phone and $40,000 in cash by four (4) armed men on bicycles at his stall located along Alexander Street, Bourda Market, Georgetown.

The vendor has been identified as Hazrat of Ruby Back, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), who was assaulted by one of the bandits who had been toting a gun before his three (3) knife-wielding accomplices robbed the man.

Reports are that around 03:30h on the day in question, Hazrat was at his stall when the pedal cycling perpetrators approached him.
The gunman immediately pointed his weapon in the vendor’s direction and ordered him not to utter a word before he (the suspect) used his black handgun to deal two (2) blows to the left side of Hazrat’s face.

He then demanded that the vendor hand over money to them and Hazrat immediately complied; the vendor gave the bandits $40,000 in cash along with his Black LG cellular phone valued at $30,000.

After obtaining the loot, the four (4) suspects then made good their escape on their bicycles in a Southern direction along Alexander Street, Georgetown.

Police ranks were summoned to the crime scene and checked the area for the quartet but did not locate the perpetrators.
Investigations into the robbery are currently in progress.
