- Truck reportedly lost control
Fatimah Jamal, of Lot 101 Caesar Street, Agricola, died after being struck by a truck on the East Bank Demerara roadway. The 62 year old was said to be walking on a pedestrian crossing when tragedy struck. Reports indicate that the woman had just completed her duties at a Hotel in the neighbourhood where she was employed as a janitor.
She was making her way home and was at the time on a pedestrian crossing when the truck hit her. The truck allegedly lost control and struck the woman who was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she eventually succumbed to her injuries. The truck driver is reportedly assisting with the investigations. The matter has since been reported.
