- Three days after being bitten
A 57 year old woman from Siriki in the Pomeroon River, reportedly succumbed days after receiving snake bites on both of her feet. Dead is Marilyn Narine, a mother of seven who accidentally stepped on the tail of the poisonous labaria snake. She was on her way home with one of her daughters when the incident occurred. She eventually died three days later.
Reports are that after being bitten, Narine apparently screamed for her husband and her daughter, and was subsequently taken to the Oscar Joseph Hospital at Charity. She was later transferred to the Suddie Hospital, and then ultimately to the Georgetown Public Hospital, after her condition worsened. Narine’s physical condition reportedly declined rapidly over the three-day period.
