The battle against illegal fishing in the Guianas is ongoing. Recently, the World Wildlife Fund-Guianas convened its first-ever regional meeting in collaboration with the fisheries departments of Guyana, Suriname, and the Fisheries Committee of French Guiana. The primary objective of this gathering was to address and ultimately end illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing practices in the region.
