POLICE CONSTABLE RELEASED ON BAIL FOR ILLEGAL AMMO

Another policeman was arraigned before the courts. This time for having in his possession several rounds of ammunition without having a license to carry such. Javone Vickerie Reports.
The 30-year-old police constable was on Thursday released on
$100,000 bail by Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown
Magistrates Court for the possession of ammunition.
It is alleged that Romel Cato of West Bank Berbice on December
1 at Brickdam, he had in his possession 18 rounds of .223
ammunition and 1 round of .38 ammunition when he was not a
licensed firearm holder at the time.
The unrepresented denied the allegation.
Police Prosecutor Seon Blackman objected to bail on the grounds
that offence is serious in nature and if found guilty, the accused
could face a serious penalty.
Magistrate McGusty released Cato on $100,000 bail and
adjourned the matter until December 14.
