In December of 2017, when President David Granger addressed the 83rd Graduation of the college, he announced that resident trainee teachers moving forward will see a 66 percent increase in their stipend. Instead of $5,500, they are now receiving $9,160 while Non-resident trainees who were receiving $7,500 are now receiving $11,440. This year, no announcement of increases were made and Prime Minister Nagamootoo agrees that the trainees should get further increases but such must be premised on availability of monies.
Nevertheless, the teachers were encouraged to make the nation, their teachers and parents proud as they move forward.
