Aimed at providing awareness, sensitization, and revealing untold stories during the 1823 Demerara Revolt, the 1823 Movement has ushered in the new year with a one-year celebration to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Revolt as a way to encourage Afro-Guyanese to revere their history and be appreciative of their fore parents struggle for emancipation.
