CANU ranks arrest one suspect during raid at “Ganja” farm at St. Cuthbert’s Mission

-15.4 kgs of cannabis seized, 1,500 cannabis plants destroyed

One person has been arrested and currently being grilled by officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) after being caught on a “ganja” farm during a raid at the St. Cuthbert’s Mission on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway.

According to a press release from the CANU, its ranks while acting on intelligence swooped down on a farm in the above-mentioned community yesterday.

They discovered a make-shift camp and extensive cultivation of Cannabis plants.

The CANU ranks seized 15.4 kilogrammes of dried cannabis plants. Meanwhile, an average of 1,500 “ganja” plants, estimated to be three (3) feet and weighed 275 pounds altogether, were destroyed.

The suspect, who had been at the farm, was immediately arrested and taken into custody. Investigations into the matter are presently ongoing.
